Harvest season is upon us again!
It is a time to be grateful for what we have, and a time to do what we can to help those that are less fortunate than we are. Year upon year, our hearts are warmed by the overwhelming generosity of the Roe Green village residents, and we hope this year that you will consider donating what you can toward the appeal.
As with previous years, this year’s collection will be supporting Salford Loaves and Fishes. It is a wonderful organisation that seeks to provide assistance and practical support to the homeless, at risk individuals, immigrants, asylum seekers and those struggling with food poverty. Salford Loaves and Fishes offer food, basic necessities, support, care, and a listening ear to those in need. Would you consider supporting them this year by providing a donation for those in need?
We will begin the day with a Thanksgiving March around the green, expressing our gratitude for all that God has done and is doing in our lives and in this village.
Our church hall will be open between 12:30 and 15:00, if you would like to drop off any items. We welcome donations of the following items:
Coffee, teabags, sugar, tinned vegetables (potatoes, carrots, peas, tomatoes, sweetcorn)
Tinned meat (corned beef, ham, fish)
Tinned beans
Tinned soup
Dried rice, dried pasta, dried lentils
Tinned fruit
Packaged biscuits
Deodorant, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, razors, shaving foam, sanitary products
Washing powder/ liquid, fabric softener
Clean, good quality ladies and men’s clothing
New socks and underwear
Good, clean carrier bags
Anything that you are able to contribute would be greatly appreciated and will help to meet real and present needs in Salford.
As you drop off donations, we invite you to join us in the church hall for our Festival of Thanksgiving, during which we are organising a Community Barbecue. Free hotdogs and burgers are on the menu, along with tea, coffee, and other beverages. This afternoon promises to be one of community and fun, with live music, the opportunity to meet new people, and activities for kids!
We are thankful to be a part of this lovely village, and would love to hear from you regarding the things for which you are thankful, and how you think the church might be able to best serve the community over the coming year.
