The English name ‘Jesus’ that we know is a translation of the Hebrew name ‘Yeshua’. ‘Yeshua’ means ‘salvation’ and it is from this name we derive the title of ‘Saviour’ for Jesus.
But—
When God our Saviour revealed his kindness and love, He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.Titus 3:4-7
That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Saviour—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”
Luke 2:8-12
When we call on the name of Jesus and call Him our Saviour, we not only acknowledge that we needed saving, but that Jesus is the one who brings salvation to us. The name of ‘Jesus’ itself means ‘salvation’ and it is fitting that salvation only comes through Jesus (Acts 4:10-12).

Consider God as The Saviour.
Take some time to meditate on this aspect of God and worship Him for being The Saviour.
Write down what it means for God to be The Saviour in your life.
