The title “Bright Morning Star’ is one that Jesus uses to describe Himself. It signifies that He is first in all things. In the order of creation, light was created first, and the greater light was used to govern the day.

Humanly speaking, the day starts with the rise of the sun, which is a physical bright morning star. Jesus was there even before this light.

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this message for the churches. I am both the source of David and the heir to his throne. I am the bright morning star.”

Revelation 22:16

When we refer to Jesus as the Bright Morning Star, we acknowledge that He is both the first and last thing in our day, and acknowledge that by His light and goodness, we can live our lives. His brightness means that we no longer have to live in sin and darkness for the glory of His love illuminates all things.
